Healthcare IT – Frequently Asked Questions

Straightforward answers to some of the questions we’re regularly asked about healthcare technology and our services.

Choosing an IT provider or making decisions about technology can generate plenty of questions.

We’ve answered some of the most common ones below. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, just ask – we’re always happy to have a conversation.

Do you only work with healthcare organisations?

Yes.

Health IT Services specialises exclusively in healthcare.

We support organisations across Primary Care, community healthcare, independent healthcare, dental, care and the wider health sector.

Our dedicated GP IT Services division provides specialist services and technology specifically for GP practices, Primary Care Networks and the wider Primary Care sector.

What’s the difference between Health IT Services and GP IT Services?

Health IT Services is our specialist technology and managed services brand for the wider healthcare sector.

GP IT Services is our dedicated Primary Care division, reflecting our longstanding specialism in supporting GP practices, PCNs and Primary Care organisations.

Both are part of IT Auxilium Ltd and share the same underlying healthcare technology expertise.

Do you provide fully managed IT support?

Yes.

We can take responsibility for the day-to-day management and support of your organisation’s IT, including user support, devices, Microsoft services, cybersecurity, infrastructure, backup and strategic technology planning.

We can also provide individual services or project support where you don’t require a fully managed service.

Can you work alongside our existing internal IT team?

Yes.

Not every organisation needs to outsource its entire IT function.

We can work alongside internal IT, digital and transformation teams, providing additional expertise, capacity or responsibility for specific areas and projects.

Do you support Microsoft 365?

Yes.

We support Microsoft cloud technologies including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and Azure where appropriate.

We can help with everything from licensing and configuration to security, migration and ongoing management.

Can you help with Cyber Essentials and healthcare cybersecurity?

Yes.

We can help identify cybersecurity weaknesses and implement appropriate technical controls, as well as support organisations working towards Cyber Essentials and wider healthcare information security objectives.

Do you support organisations with multiple locations?

Yes.

Many healthcare providers operate across multiple locations.

We can centrally manage users, devices, security and technology across distributed environments while helping organisations establish consistent standards between sites.

Can you take over from our existing IT provider?

Yes.

Changing IT provider shouldn’t mean unnecessary disruption.

We can plan and manage the transition from your existing provider, gathering the required technical information and moving services into our management in a controlled manner.

Do you provide hardware as well as support?

Yes.

We can specify, procure, configure and deploy hardware including desktops, laptops, networking equipment and other technology.

For larger projects, we can also manage staging, asset recording, deployment and installation across multiple sites.

Do you work with organisations outside Primary Care?

Absolutely.

Primary Care remains an important part of what we do through GP IT Services, but Health IT Services was established specifically to bring our specialist healthcare technology expertise to the wider sector.

We work with community healthcare providers, independent providers, dental organisations, care organisations and other healthcare services.

Can you help us understand what technology we actually need?

Yes – and we’d rather start there than simply sell you something.

Our consultancy approach starts by understanding your organisation, current challenges and objectives.

We can then recommend an appropriate technology strategy and prioritised roadmap based on what will actually benefit your organisation.

How do we get started?

Start with a conversation.

Tell us about your organisation, what isn’t working or what you’re hoping to achieve. We can then determine whether and how we can help.
